Growth and immune factors in cow Colostrum

Colostrum is also known as ‘mothers milk’ or ‘immune milk.’

It is a natural secretion produced at the beginning of lactation after birth and designed by nature to provide nutrition, growth factors and immunity against disease to the newborn.

Over the decades, it has been discovered that Colostrum offers a wide number of general health benefits for adults, ranging from an enhancement of immunity, to improvement in physical fitness.

Virtually identical to but richer than Colostrum of humans

Cow (or bovine) Colostrum is virtually identical to that of humans, but richer. It contains a higher percentage of some of the more beneficial proteins. This makes cow Colostrum of great health benefit to humans.

For example, through its five Immunoglobulins, Colostrum rebuilds the immune system and helps the body ward off foreign invaders.

Through its numerous Growth Factors it accelerates healing of all body tissue, increases bone and lean muscle mass, and renews an aging system.

Colostrum also has Antioxidant properties, natural Anti-inflammatory properties, and is a source of many vitamins, minerals, enzymes and amino acids.

 The five Immunoglobulins in Colostrum

Immunoglobulins are special proteins that are carried in the lymph and circulatory systems of our body. They are the first line of defence of our immune system.

Each class has its own unique job to do in the body. This is mainly to attach to, penetrate, destroy or immobilize a specific type of virus or bacteria.

In a healthy person Immunoglobulins will normally make up just under half the proteins in the blood.

After a human or a cow has successfully overcome a disease, it carries an immunity to that disease for many years, even a lifetime. This is encoded in Immunoglobulin immune factor proteins. This immunity is passed on to offspring through the placenta and the Colostrum.

Humans pass on most of this immunity through the placenta, whereas cow immunity is only passed on through Colostrum. This is why cow Colostrum has 10 to 20 times more immune factors than human Colostrum. Also why a calf normally will not survive without it.

There are five classes or family groups of Immunoglobulins. They all begin with the abbreviation Ig and are found in all mammals including humans.

Health House American Colostrum powder contains all five of these Immunoglobulins.

Each Ig class is distinguished further with the capital letters A, D, E, G and M.

Below are these various family groups of Immunoglobulins.

IgA  This is an Immunoglobulin found in the blood, and also in saliva, tears, and mucous of the respiratory and digestive systems These are the areas of the human body where most invading organisms make their first attack.

IgG  This is the most abundant Immunoglobulin found in cow Colostrum. It populates the body’s lymph and blood circulatory systems where it helps to neutralize toxins and other unwanted invaders. Research shows that IgG can remain in the small intestine and blood stream indefinitely.

IgD  A highly effective virus killer.

IgE  Another highly effective virus killer.

 IgM  A powerful bacteria fighter.

 The Growth Factors in Colostrum

There are also five Growth Factors in Colostrum. These regulate the rapid growth of the muscles and bones in the newborn. And even in human adults, Growth Factors continue to promote muscle growth, fat minimisation and bone optimisation.

These five Growth Factors are IGF-1, EGF, FGF, TGF and GH. The GF stands for Growth Factor. And GH for Growth Hormone.

IGF-1  (Insulin-like Growth Factor 1) This is a complex protein hormone, similar to insulin and containing 70 different amino acids. It plays an important role in childhood growth and promotes the vigorous growth of youthful cells and continues to produce muscle growth and bone optimisation in adults.

Almost every cell in the human body is affected by IGF-1, especially muscle, cartilage, bone, liver, kidney, nerve, skin and lung cells.

EGF  (Epidermal Growth Factor) This Growth Factor plays an important role in the regulation, growth and differentiation of the body skin cells.

FGF  (Fibroblast Growth Factors) This is a complex family of 24 types, FGF1 to FGF24. And these types all contain sub-families. They control the growth of new arteries, veins, collagen and connective tissue in the body. FGF is also active in wound healing and the prevention of development defects in growing children.

TGF  (Transforming Growth Factor)  This is a family of proteins TGF1 to TGF3. They control the forming of and differentiation of various body cells. They program the lifespan of cells and regulate many other cell functions.

TGF factors also regulate the immune system killer T cells. They also help prevent cancer, heart disease and diabetes.

GH  (Growth hormone) This is a highly complex, 191 amino acid hormone that is stored in, and secreted by our Pituitary Gland. It stimulates body growth and also helps to slow down aging.

Other reported beneficial effects in adults of GH include decreased body fat, increased muscle mass, increased bone density, increased energy levels, improved skin tone and texture, and improved immune system function.

 Lactoferrin in Colostrum

Lactoferrin is one of the most powerful anti-virus, anti-bacteria substances known to man. It is even more powerful than the other Immunoglobulins in it's bacteria killing and anti-viral action.

It teams up with Ig Immunoglobulins as your body's first line of defence against a wide range of bacteria, viruses and other dangerous microbes.

Cow Colostrum has by far the highest concentration of Lactoferrin found in any natural body food. It is also highly resistant to stomach acid and is able to pass nearly intact into the small intestine where it operates from and is distributed throughout the body.

Lactoferrin is also found in mucus secretions, tears and saliva as well as the blood.

Lactoferrin binds to bacteria and viruses, inactivating them, so that they can be neutralized by the body's immune system.

Lactoferrin protects the body against a wide variety of health disorders. These include:

Hepatitis A

Chicken pox

Rheumatoid arthritis

Multiple sclerosis

Herpes virus

Anemia

Lupus

Chronic fatigue

Crohn's' disease.

It balances an overactive immune system where the body attacks itself, or is producing too many antibodies. And stimulates an underactive immune system.

Lactoferrin has also been shown to play a major role in our body's defence against cancerous tumours. Furthermore, is a super antioxidant and is even showing promising results with autistic children.
